Policies

Hours of Operation
We are open seven days a week, from 7:30 AM to 8:00 PM. For events on Saturdays and Sundays, a $500 minimum food and beverage purchase applies. Additional charges may apply for events held outside regular hours or during UMD holidays.

Booking Your Event
We encourage you to book your event as far in advance as possible to ensure availability and sufficient time for thorough planning. A 25% deposit is required when signing the contract, with 50% of the total event cost due two weeks prior to the event date. The final balance is due one week before the event. We understand that last-minute changes can happen and will do our best to accommodate any requests, but please note that orders placed or changes made within five business days of the event will incur a minimum surcharge of 20% due to scheduling and ordering constraints.

Service Fee
A service fee of 19.5% is applied to all events to cover transportation of food and equipment. If your event is held at the Stamp Student Union, the Xfinity Center, or Tyser Tower, this fee will be reduced to 9.5%.

China Service
For $4 per person, we offer plain white porcelain plates, stainless steel flatware, and glassware. Events held at the Stamp Student Union, Xfinity Center, or Tyser Tower are exempt from this fee. Opting for china service is a great way to host a zero-waste event by eliminating disposables.

Linens
Good Tidings is proud to provide complimentary basic linens for food service and guest tables, available in black, white, red, and gold. If you're looking for different colors or additional styles, we are happy to coordinate with our trusted vendors for a custom linen selection, with any external vendor charges being added to your final bill.

Staffing Charges
Each event requires a dedicated team to ensure a smooth and successful experience. Our professional staff will assist with setup, service, and cleanup, and the appropriate number of servers, bartenders, cashiers, and carvers will be determined based on your event's needs. A skilled event manager will oversee all aspects of your event at no additional charge.

Sustainability Commitment
We prioritize sustainability through local sourcing, composting, recycling, and partnering with the student-led Food Recovery Network. Our disposable products are eco-friendly, and we’re eager to work with you to make your event greener, whether by offering vegetarian or vegan menu options, reducing disposables, or using seasonal and local ingredients. Composting and recycling bins are available across campus—consult the campus map for their locations.

Dietary Restrictions
We can accommodate most dietary restrictions and will gladly work with you to design a menu that meets the needs of your guests. Simply inform us of your requirements when booking, and we will craft a menu that caters to everyone’s preferences.

Payment Options
We accept UMD KFS accounts, UMD Foundation funds, Rstars, all major credit cards, cash, and checks.
