Turkey Day is upon us! In order to keep the earth green and thriving for future generations to be thankful for, lets all work to be sustainable. Here’s a round up of 5 ways you can be sustainable during Thanksgiving.
Cut down on food miles, reducing gas and energy used in transport and support nearby farmers by buying your veggies and meat from local farms.

Don’t use disposable plate or silverware!
Using real dishes will keep products out of the landfill, plus they just look and feel nicer. If you can’t use real dishes, use compostable plates and silverware and then actually compost them. Throwing away compostable items in plastic bags means they can’t compost properly and their nutritional value won’t return to the earth! If you don’t have time to get/access to compostable items, use normal paper plates which can be composted and real silverware. These paper items take a little longer than plates designed to compost but as they are paper products they decompose eventually.
