How to Choose and Use Your Dining Plan
Welcome to the University of Maryland! New students should use the Maryland Planner Worksheet provided with the acceptance letter to help select a dining plan. Dining plan points for new-to-campus-housing students are linked to the UM ID card. You have the opportunity to change your dining plan during the first three weeks of the semester. Points are valid through the end of the current academic semester.
NRO Points
A New Resident Orientation (NRO) fee is included in the dining plan charge for fall semester. A separate account will be attached to your UM ID card to include points for the weekend before classes start and there will be a New Student Welcome Convocation Meal on Friday, August 29. Unused NRO funds convert to Terp Bucks, which are available for use throughout the semester.
