Food Allergy Disclaimer

UMD Dining makes every attempt to identify ingredients that may cause reactions in people with food allergies. We make every effort to instruct our food production staff on the severity of food allergies. In addition, we label items with possible allergen ‐ containing ingredients.

However, there is always a risk of cross contact.

There is the possibility that manufacturers of the commercial foods we use could change the formulation at any time and without notice. Customers concerned with food allergies need to be aware of this risk.

UMD Dining also operates the Maryland Bakery, which produces baked goods that contain nuts. We cannot guarantee the absence of cross‐contamination in our baked foods.

UMD Dining does not assume liability for adverse reactions to foods consumed, or items one may come into contact with while eating at any University establishment.

Anyone who may need to use an Epi-Pen or other medication should be sure to carry that with them at all times. Each UMD dining hall has an Epi-Pen in case of emergency and a manager with training in the use of Epi-Pens.

Students with food allergies are encouraged to contact the UMD Dining Quality Coordinator and Nutritionist, Sister Maureen Schrimpe, IHM, FMP, CAT at for additional information and/or support.
