Community Outreach & Involvement

Dining Services gives back to the community by participating in charitable activities and events on and off campus. Our efforts include:

  • 7th Annual Division of Student Affairs Day of Service, November 12, 2008–Dining Services staff contributed by:
    • Preparing meals the Capital Area Food Bank
    • Providing service at the Ronald McDonald House
    • Packing bagged lunches to distribute through DC Central Kitchens
    • Making posters, games, and booklets in the Art and Learning Center for local elementary schools
    • Assisting with an on-campus blood drive
    • Donating school supplies to local public schools
  • Annual Teddy Bear Drive supporting the Bonnie Johns Children’s Fund. Dining Services staff all across campus collected teddy bears, which were distributed to vulnerable children in homeless shelters and crisis centers, and through social service organizations.   • Donations of leftover and surplus food items to DC Central Kitchen. DC Central Kitchen distributes more than 4,000 meals each day to over 100 agencies providing services to men, women, and children in need in metropolitan Washington, DC.
