2012

Brittany Boyd receiving the second Patricia Higgins Scholarship from Colleen Wright-Riva, Dining Services Director. The Pat Higgins Scholarship is awarded to a University of Maryland student who is either a current UMDS employee or is the child of a current UMDS employee. Brittany is a Dining Services employee.

2011

Maura Donovan received the Emma Powers Student Employee of the Year Award, the highest Dining Services honor given to student employees, for her exceptional contributions to Dining Services and the campus community.

Dining Services Dietitian Sister Maureen Schrimpe received the 2011 Theodore W. Minah Distinguished Service Award - NACUFS’ most prestigious honor. Selection is based on outstanding and enduring contribution to the foodservice industry and to the association.

South Campus Cook Jimmy Cornelius was awarded the Students Affairs Outstanding Service Award at the End of the Year Celebration at the Eppley Recreation Center on June 11, 2011.

2010

Gabriela Rendoros received the Emma Powers Student Employee of the Year Award, the highest Dining Services honor given to student employees, for his exceptional contributions to Dining Services and the campus community.

Evander Somerville received the Emma Powers Student Employee of the Year Award, the highest Dining Services honor given to student employees, for his exceptional contributions to Dining Services and the campus community.

Johnny Li (son of Maolin Li, pastry chef in the Maryland Bakery) received the first Patricia Higgins Scholarship from Pat Higgins, retired Dining Services Director and Colleen Wright-Riva, current Dining Services Director. The Pat Higgins Scholarship is awarded to a University of Maryland student who is either a current UMDS employee or is the child of a current UMDS employee.

2009


Joe Mullineaux received the 2009 Student Affairs Outstanding Service Award , for his exceptional contributions to Dining Services and the campus community.

Lauren Polovoy, Student Manager of Mulligan’s Grill and Pub, received the Emma Powers Student Employee of the Year Award, the highest Dining Services honor given to student employees, for her exceptional contributions to Dining Services and the campus community.

2008

NACUFS 2008 conference

Benjamin Franich received the Emma Powers Student Employee of the Year Award, the highest Dining Services honor given to student employees, for his exceptional contributions to Dining Services and the campus community.

Dining Services Dietitian Sister Maureen Schrimpe received the President’s Award from David Friend at the NACUFS 2008 National Conference.

Catering Chef Thomas Schraa won the NACUFS Region 2 Culinary Competition and competed in the NACUFS National Competition.

2007

Dining Services Director Pat Higgins received the prestigious Richard Stimson Award of Excellence in Service from the Residence Hall Association for her extraordinary service to University of Maryland students.

A Student Government Resolution, sponsored by SGA President Matt Verghese, is proposed and passed in honor of Pat Higgins’ service and dedication to the University of Maryland.

Sarah Kirkwood, Student Manager of the Maryland Golf Course Club House, received the Emma Powers Student Employee of the Year Award, the highest Dining Services honor given to student employees, for her exceptional contributions to Dining Services and the campus community.

2006

Vogel

Phillip Vogel, Student Supervisor for Good Tidings catering, received the Emma Powers Student Employee of the Year Award, the highest Dining Services honor given to student employees, for his exceptional contributions to Dining Services and the campus community.

Dining Services receives the State Employees Risk Management Association (SERMA) Citation for Excellence in Risk Management.

2005

Dining Services Assistant Director Jean Bennett received the President’s Distinguished Service Award at the University of Maryland Faculty and Staff Convocation for dedication to creating a memorable and student-friendly dining experience on campus.

The president of the National Association of College and University Food Service (NACUFS) selected Dining Services Quality Coordinator and Dietitian Sister Maureen Schrimpe IHM, FMP, to receive the NACFUS Lichtenfelt Award for her volunteer efforts on behalf of the association.

Bart Hipple, Administrator of Convenience Shops, received a Citation by the Office for Organizational Effectiveness in appreciation for his extraordinary contribution as member of Peer Consulting Network to the advancement and improvement of campus community.

Keith Loh from South Campus Dining Room received the Emma Powers Student Employee of the Year Award, the highest Dining Services honor given to student employees, for his exceptional contributions to Dining Services and the campus community.
