January’s tips

JANUARY

How to Keep New Year’s Resolutions

Don’t be too drastic. The fastest way to fall short of a goal is to make it something that you can’t attain. Hoping to never eat your favorite food again could be a bad choice, but resolving to eat it less often might be a better option.

Plan ahead. If you want to limit desserts, plan what you will eat instead before you head to dinner. Plan when you will exercise before the day starts so it fits into your day and isn’t easily forgotten.

Find a buddy. Don’t keep your resolution a secret. Eating more vegetables will be easier if you tell your friends that are with you when you eat. Telling friends or family members will help you with the follow through. Setting a New Year’s resolution with a friend will allow you to help motivate each other.

Stick to it. Experts say that it takes about 21 days for a new activity to become a habit. New eating and exercising habits will take some time to become second-nature, but in no time, you will feel great after your new exercise routine or revamped dessert choice!
